Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) Program

Program Description

Did you know that a typical hospital will use more than 15,000 trays of instruments every month? Each tray may consist of about 50 pieces of instruments for one surgical procedure. That totals to about 750,000 instruments per month. 

Sterile Processing is the management of the entire process of decontamination, assembly, packing, sterilizing and distribution of the various medical instruments and devices.  As a Sterile Processing Technician or Central Services Technician, you play a vital role towards providing quality care to the patients. With high incidence of healthcare acquired/associated infection, the demand for well versed, certified sterile processing technicians is now bigger than ever. Hospitals and surgical facilities are currently looking and hiring for technicians who are certified. 

Earn your Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification or  as little as eight (8) weeks. Martinson College's Sterile Processing Technician or Central Services Technician Program is accredited and is carefully developed around the rising demands of hospitals and healthcare facilities requiring better trained technicians.  We have day, evening and weekend classes, as well as, online and FusionPlus+™  Program. Our FusionPlus+™ program is a combination of both online and classroom learning. This is ideal for the working adult who also prefers classroom instructions. We offer externship and placement services through our affiliate hospitals and healthcare facilities to help you gain experience and increase your chances of employment. Successful completion of the program will provide eligibility to take the CBSPD international certification exam.
